David Armstrong - Wise Mortgage Guy

With decades of experience, my mission is to help you find the mortgage solution that best suits your situation. When I underwrote my first mortgage, Mulroney was Prime Minister and rates had come down to 13.75%. In other words, I have seen some things.

I assist a diverse range of clients, but I have a particular passion for helping individuals plan their mortgage around their retirement.

What does that mean? Mortgage planning is often overlooked in retirement plans, yet it should be a key component. Many of us in BC have the majority of our wealth tied up in real estate. Doesn't it make sense to access some of that wealth when you retire? Let me show you why this can make financial sense for many reasons.

Married or Common Law? It's crucial to know if the product you have in place includes survivor policies, as most banks and credit unions will freeze line of credit/re-advanceable mortgage limits if one of the borrowers passes away. This is especially important when planning for retirement.

When I am not in the office working on mortgages, you can often find me floating around the Gulf Islands in our boat, or wandering the waterfront in Victoria.
